The ERG is also holding a Public Consultation on the document  "ERG (09) 51 Business Services " attached here. The Public Consultation is open to all interested parties.

Responses should be sent to the ERG Secretariat via erg@ec.europa.eu no later than 1 February 2010, with the words ERG Business Services in the subject heading, and specifying any confidential content of the response. Unless so specified, responses will be published on the ERG Website.

 

A Public hearing will also be held in Brussels on 29 January 2010.  If you wish to attend please complete the registration form and return it by e-mail to erg@ec.europa.eu.  You will then be sent an official invitation letter which must be brought to gain admission to the meeting.

The IRG has today published the executive summaries of the IRG Expert Group Report concerning the opening of phase II investigation pursuant to Article 7(4) of directive 2002/21 EC on Case PL/2008/0766 - Transit services in the fixed public telephone network, and on the Report on Case PL/2008/0772 - Wholesale national market for trunk segments of leased lines in Poland.

The ERG has released an amended version of the International Roaming Regulations Guidelines, which can be found here with the document title, "ERG (07) 86rev1 International Roaming Regulation Guidelines", and draws attention to the amendment of paragraph 18 detailing the reference date for exchange rate conversion.

The ERG today publishes its first comprehensive data collection of international roaming since the implementation of the roaming Regulation. Data collected by the ERG shows a general trend of reduced roaming prices for consumers using their mobile abroad. Please find the attached press release. The report on the data collection can be found here with the document title "ERG (07) 85 International Roaming Report".

The ERG also published today its final set of guidelines to providers which are complementary to the provisions set out in the Regulation.  This follows previous versions published in July and August 2007. The guidelines can be found here with the document title "ERG (07) 86 International Roaming Regulation Guidelines".

Following consultation in August-September, the ERG announces today the publication of the final version of its detailed data model specification.  In response to comments made by several respondents to the consultation, the ERG has also published an Explanatory Memorandum to accompany the data specification.

NRAs will be sending the data specification to national providers of international roaming services for completion shortly.  The data gathered through this process will be used in the formulation of an ERG report on International roaming regulation, expected at the end of this year.  In the first instance any questions regarding these documents should be directed at the relevant NRA.

The ERG has published today the second release of its guidelines on roaming, covering charges, welcome SMS and other provisions.  Please find the guidelines here.  The guidelines are effective from today, but the ERG invites comments on this second release until 5 September.  Comments can be sent to the ERG Secretariat at erg@ec.europa.eu with the wording "Comments 2nd Roaming Guidelines" in the subject header.

Also today, ERG published for consultation a detailed draft model data specification.  This data specification will form the core data set required by NRAs in supervising and monitoring compliance with the roaming Regulation.  ERG expects to publish a report, drawing on information gathered using this data specification, on the roaming regulation at the end of this year.  Comments can be sent to the ERG Secretariat at erg@ec.europa.eu until 5 September with the wording "Comments Data Model - Roaming" in the subject header.

Today the European Regulators Group and Viviane Reding, Commissioner for Information Society and Media, have adopted a Joint Statement on the forthcoming reform of the EU's Regulatory Framework for electronic communications.  The Statement is based on the ERG's letter of advice and its annexes (annex 1 and annex 2) to the Commission, released today.  Also included are letters of Correspondence between the ERG and the Commission.

The ERG Plenary has adopted a "Revised ERG Common Position (ERG (06) 33) on the approach to appropriate remedies in the ECNS regulatory framework", i.e. the "Remedies" document.  An Explanatory Memorandum outlines changes to the Common Position agreed by ERG and also provides an explanation for rejecting input received from stakeholders on various issues.  ERG is very grateful to all those who have contributed by direct submissions, by interventions at the public hearing or through informal input during one of the phases of the work.
